Find out if an element is currently truncating its text with an ellipsis (…) - a div, aspan, an input, a -webkit-line-clamp block, anything. Framework-agnostic at its core (isEllipsis(), measureEllipsis(), observeEllipsis()), with a React hook and a ready-made <EllipsisTooltip> component in@isellipsis/react.
The v3 rewrite dropped the old approach of cloning the element and copying every computed style, in favor of measuring non-input elements with a Range and inputs with canvas text metrics - both sub-pixel accurate, so the old "use integer widths" caveat is gone, and the result is gated on an ellipsis actually being painted rather than just "the text is technically too long".
